I have a school zone flashing beacon that was damaged by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, but is not included in the program. Is there a way to have FEMA review this for inclusion?

There is a roadway or sidewalk patch that was damaged by storm water or debris removal following Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, but it is not included in the FEMAeligible roadway and sidewalk patching repairs program. Is there a way to have FEMA review this for inclusion?

What projects are currently managed by DPW?

DPW is currently managing FEMA-eligible roadway and sidewalk patching repairs at over 17,000 sites throughout the City of New Orleans. In addition, the Department is overseeing a third round of subsurface drainage cleaning that will be reimbursed by FEMA. DPW also oversees multiple roadway rehabilitation and reconstruction projects, streetscape enhancement projects, street sign replacement and other roadway related projects.

Is any work already completed?

Yes. In fact, projects are moving into construction and being completed on a regular basis. The City recently held groundbreaking events for road projects on Patterson Road/Drive in Algiers and Redwood Street and Sandalwood Street in New Orleans East. In addition, ribbon cutting events were held for the first phase of Robert E. Lee Boulevard from Pontchartrain Boulevard to Wisner Boulevard and Marconi Boulevard from Robert E. Lee Boulevard to Norfolk Southern Railroad. In addition, the Department has completed multiple roadway and sidewalk patching repairs and repaired catch basins and manholes throughout the city.

Yes. Click here to fill out the Internet-based form. Once submitted, the Department of Public Works will review the area with FEMA. If FEMA determines the damage was caused by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, a new beacon will replace the damaged one.

Yes. Click here to download a PDF form or fill out the Internet-based form. Once submitted, the Department of Public Works will review the area with FEMA. If FEMA determines the damage was caused by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, the area will be repaired as part of the program.
